Recycled rubber can revolutionise your garden

Car tyres, which are made from sturdy, durable and water-repelling rubber, are the ideal material for garden furniture.

There is now a wide range of environmentally friendly garden furniture available made from recycled rubber, the Daily Telegraph reported yesterday (October 22nd).

This includes plant pots, garden tables and stools available from Kitsch-u-like and rubber mulch made from old forklift truck tyres by Ecoscape.

Applying rubber grains can help replenish garden lawns, aerating the soil and reinforcing grass, particularly helpful to areas that have been eroded by being walked over again and again.

Rubber is also increasingly being used as a flooring material, and garden paving is no exception. Vast pavers, also made from old tyres, are lighter than concrete or stone and make the ideal for garden paths.

Buying goods made from recycled materials is a great way to be eco friendly while gardening, with Britain generating more than 400,000 waste tyres annually, according to Tyre Recovery.
