Companies get ready to deliver thousands of plants

The sheds of two gardening companies in south Florida will be busy in the coming weeks as up to 12,000 plants headed for the world´s largest cruise ship are due for delivery soon.

Oasis of the Seas, Royal Caribbean´s new vessel, will feature a large area of greenery called Central Park which will include many varieties of plants and an innovative irrigation system below its decks to ensure that they receive sufficient water.

Shortcut to Trentan Heavy Duty Gatden Studio The Florida firms growing the bulk of the ship´s flora are Southeast Growers of Wellington and Michael´s Nursery from Boynton Beach, the Miami Herald reports today (October 22nd).

In particular, the ship´s planted area will feature vegetation from its Caribbean island destinations including spices, pineapples and coffee plants.

President of Southeast Growers Rich Kern told the newspaper: "It´s been a very unusual project. It´s something we´ve never done before".

Oasis of the Seas is due to have its official naming ceremony at Fort Lauderdale in Florida on November 30th.
